Support SANDPIPERS’ LAST SUPPER to help conserve vulnerable shorebirds and their vital mudflat habitats.

We have already begun filming the western sandpiper migration at Roberts Bank, British Columbia in the spring 2023, and we have received the support of many conservation organizations.

Now we need your help to continue filming at Roberts Bank but also to tell the global story of the western sandpiper migration. We need to raise additional funds to film key stopover sites along the Pacific Flyway that are used by western sandpipers as they travel from their overwintering grounds in South America to their breeding grounds in Alaska, including Panama Bay, San Francisco Bay, and the Copper River Delta.

When you support the film, you also become part of a larger campaign to conserve shorebirds and the vital mudflat habitats they depend on for their survival. And when you protect tidal mudflats, you do not only protect tiny shorebirds, but also an entire ecosystem that includes wild pacific salmon, the endangered southern resident orcas, and ultimately benefits people.

For this campaign, we are partnering with BC Nature, BC’s collective voice for nature conservation since 1969. BC Nature functions as a federation of natural history clubs and organizations throughout British Columbia representing more than 6,000 members who provide the eyes, ears and feet on the ground for nature in BC.

Your tax-deductive contribution will help:

  • Support additional filming of the documentary Sandpipers’ Last Supper to document the shorebirds’ migration to some of their stopover sites and their breeding grounds
  • Raise awareness about the global decline of shorebirds and the ecological value of tidal mudflats around the world.
  • Develop public education programs on shorebirds and tidal mudflats.
  • Shine a large-scale international spotlight on the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Port expansion project.
  • Support an impact campaign to protect the Roberts Bank site in British Columbia.
