After welcoming and celebrating western sandpipers every spring on their migratory stopover on the intertidal mudflats of the Fraser River Estuary in British Columbia, I finally had the incredible privilege to meet them again on their breeding grounds in Alaska, a very special moment for me!
We traveled to Utqiagvik and Nome, Alaska in May and June where we filmed a variety of shorebirds and got to experience spectacular landscapes and the magical late evening light. Not much sleep but so worth it!
Many thanks to our talented and indefatigable filming crew and to the scientists and volunteers who supported us during this journey.
